I have been making a windmill in my backyard to power some lights on the steps I put in on the hill in my backyard. I built the turbine out of fiberglass, which was harder that I thought to get out of the mold. I managed to hook it up to a generator I picked up from
APEX for $20. Mounted it on top of a pole in the backyard, and hooked it up to an old battery charger hooked up a 12v d.c. battery and it charged YAY!!!
So I went to Frys and spent $40 on leds to use for lights and found them to be a bit dimmer than I thought, so I went out to APEX and got another battery and hook them both together and hooked my $40 worth of leds and managed to destroy all of them. One if them even made a cute little fire. I looked on the Internets and found some brighter ones for cheaper. Yay!
You know what now that I think about it there use to be lots of good electronics stores in
The Valley before we lost our military industrial complex, now all we have is Frys who only sells stuff to make your car loud or your computer wireless and Radio Shack who sells cell phones and electronic toys for kids. No one sells parts anymore at Home Depot you tell them you need some thing that will do thus and so, they say, "What is it for." or "We don't have that."
So hopefully my leds will be here soon and I will have lights in the backyard.
